Yummy by G. Neri

Project #1:
Song Project: Choose a song that you think Yummy should have on his ipod. In a paragraph, connect lyrics from the song to scenes and situations from Yummy. In other words, tie the song lyrics to Yummy and events in the book. Add in a youtube video link underneath your post! (You may not choose the same song as someone else who has posted before you--also, make sure lyrics are school appropriate.)

I picked the song Dear Mama by 2pac to go on Yummy's Ipod because its shows what hes going through. His mama is a crack head and has been in an out of jail. In the song it talks about him running from the cops. Also talks about hanging out with the wrong people "I hung around with the Thugs, and even though they sold drugs
They showed a young brother love" this is how the chief of the Black Diciples Monster made Yummy feel. Thats why this song should be on Yummy's Ipod.

The song "Changes" by Tupac relates to Yummys situtation becuase Yummy grew up in a bad neighberhood, & so did Tupac. Tupac says that "things will never be the same", & after what Yummy did, killed Shavon, his life would never be the same. Tupac also said " The only thing im responsible for is what i do, I dont know how to be responsible for what every black man does." & Yummy was trying to take his own responsiblilies by calling his grandma, but that didnt work. His friends beat his grandma to it. "Now tell me what's a mother to do? " Yummy never had his mother in his life, just like alot of kids that grow up in bad neighborhood. I believe that Yummy would have this song on his iPod becuase it relates to alot of things that happened in his life!
