Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Project #1:
Song Project: Choose a song that you think Hannah should have on her ipod. In a paragraph, connect lyrics from the song to scenes and situations from 13 Reasons Why. In other words, tie the song lyrics to Hannah and events in the book. Add in a youtube video link underneath your post! (You may not choose the same song as someone else who has posted before you--also, make sure lyrics are school appropriate.)

  1. The song "Sweet dreams" by Emily Browning would most likely be in Hannah's Ipod. Its basicly leading to suicide. The lyrics "Some of them want to use. Some of them want to be used by you" Like it reminds me when Courtny "used" Hannah to get a ride to that party. And the other part of the lyrics to the song says "some of them want to abuse you" it started with a verbal abuse. Where they came up the the rummor about her. Then it got intense and people started to abuse her physically. Where Bryce thouched her in parts where she should not have been touched.

  3. The song "Jar of Hearts" by Christina Perri would be a song in Hannah's ipod. The beginning of the song says, "I know I can't take one more step towards you, because all that’s waiting is regret." The song implies that the decisions people make are sometimes regretted. This relates to Hannah because she decided to go to the party and regretted it. Also, the lyrics say "Who do you think you are?" I believe this connects with the novel because Hannah meets all these people and most of them think she's easy, so she doesn’t know her real friends.

  4. The song "Adams song" by Blink 182 would most likely be in Hannahs playlist. The song deals with teen suicide. In the beginging of the song "I Never Thought I'd Die Alone", describes Hannahs thoughts when she committed suiced. "I took my time, I hurried up, The choice was mine I didn't think enough", go with the bad choices that she did with out having a second thought. This is just a deppressing song that Hannah might have in her ipod during her death days.
