Suicide has been a leading cause of death to but over the years suicide has dropped. Columbia University says that drugs are the reason why suicide has decreased. There is an inverse relationship with suicide and drugs within boys but not girls. Over the years it has been known that there is an increase of anitdepressants in children but that doesn't prove if that reduces suicide. Dr. Oflson says that a cause of decreased suicide might be due to new laws that help gun control and drug control.

ReplyDeleteSamantha Kuberski was a happy girl until she took her life. After an argument with her mother she was sent to her room. Too young to know any of the consequences of death, she ties a belt to a high crib and hangs herself. Many doctors thought it was an accident becausee she was to young to know that death was the end. That there was no turning back.

Bullycide is a mix of bulling and depression towards the victum. There have been more than 20,000 cases of bullycide in the past year. A perfect example of bullycide is The Columbine School shootings in Colorado. The boys who shot and killed 12 students, 1 teacher were victums themselves. Dylan and Eric were considered the schools outcast losers. Classmates picked on them and called them fagboys and gay taunts. They both listen to depressing music That made them depressed. So that lead them to suicide after the shooting.

ReplyDeleteIn Virginia Beach, 4 students committed suicide in 2 months. The school board has studied how to prevent suicide. They used to think that talking about suicide lead to more suicide. Now people think talking about it will help you prevent suicide so it wouldn’t happen again, so in many schools, there are programs to prevent suicide.

@Ruben- Wow thats shocking. I want to know why they killed themself.Also this is a tough issue for schools to talk about so I don't know what I would do if I was the school administration.
